PARIS 2e

"Infotainment? What the hell are you talking about?"

SHOPPING = ART

Next time you pay a visit to the temple of consumerism (AKA Galeries Lafayette), go take a look at the new exhibition on the first floor: ANTIDOTE (13 Sept till 3rd Nov), actually the 3rd show of its kind; showing the works of 10 French artists: Pierre Ardouvin, Eric Baudart, Michel Blazy, Etienne Bossut, Didier Marcel, Mathieu Mercier, Marlène Mocquet, Laurent Montaron, Sylvain Rousseau and Tatiana Trouvé.
Since the Antidote project was founded, the Galeries Lafayette Group has been actively engaged in a process of supporting the contemporary arts, notably through its partnership with the Foire internationale d’art contemporain (FIAC) Paris. In keeping with this same process, the architect Pascal Grasso was invited to redesign the Galerie des Galeries, the Galeries Lafayette’s art space, to allow this venue to assert its own distinct identity.

"Patman 2", 2006, by Michel Blazy, made out of soy noodles colored with yellow food coloring agent.
"Mask", 2006 by Mathieu Mercier (in the back)
Some fire extinguisher...
There was a photoshooting going on at the same time, so lots of people dashing around
The photographer musing in front of "Concave", 2006 by Eric Baudart, made of used concert bills
"Laocoon", 2005, by Etienne Bossut, playing on an armchair design by Marc Newson
Who forgot this?
Now onto some shopping
Mhhh I can*t wait next holiday season!
The cupola stuffed with a replica of the Eiffel Tower, upside down

Busy bees in the make-up department
And some Karl also...
Buy my T-shirt! I am Fashion!

    I am Cedric, discoverer of things that would go unnoticed in the streets of Paris, historic haven of fashionistas and city of lights ('lights' as in 'enlightenment', not street lights).
    But seriously: I'm an expat from Luxembourg (the country, not the garden), living in the center of Paris (hence 'Paris 2nd arrondissement'), and currenlty studying architectural history...
