Luxembourg City Map 1942

Excerpts of the "Plan der Festungs- und Rosenstadt Luxemburg", 4th November 1942

Under Nazi occupation, Luxemburg got forced to convert all its streetnames into german ones. All streets that were contradictory in any way to the nazi idealism had to get completely changed into some german names, for instance the "rue des etats-unis" (street of the US) got renamed into "Theodor Koernerstrasse".
The Avenue of Liberty even got renamed into "Adolf Hitlerstrasse", as you can see on the second picture down here:

On the 16th november 1944 finally the names got changed back to their original state.

I am Cedric, discoverer of things that would go unnoticed in the streets of Paris, historic haven of fashionistas and city of lights ('lights' as in 'enlightenment', not street lights).
But seriously: I'm an expat from Luxembourg (the country, not the garden), living in the center of Paris (hence 'Paris 2nd arrondissement'), and currenlty studying architectural history...
