Pierre et Gilles are a gay French artistic and romantic duo. They produce highly stylized photographs, building their own sets and costumes as well as retouching the photographs. Their work often features images from popular culture, gay culture including porn and religion.

Pierre et Gilles are a gay French artistic and romantic duo. They produce highly stylized photographs, building their own sets and costumes as well as retouching the photographs. Their work often features images from popular culture, gay culture including porn and religion.
Nina HagenTheir personal pantheon is peopled by stars from the worlds of pop, rock, fashion, art, cinema and the clubbing scene, but also by unknown individuals they have met over the years. They have also produced numerous self-portraits. Each image tells a story, with the effectiveness and often cruel tenderness of tales for children.
People photographed by Pierre et Gilles include Marilyn Manson, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Erasure, Deee-Lite, The Creatures, Nina Hagen and CocoRosie (cover of their 2007 album The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn); model Naomi Campbell, actress Catherine Deneuve, actor Layke Anderson and designer Jean-Paul Gaultier.
