Escaping the Ash Cloud

CDG airport
My terminal at CDG airport yesterday in Paris. All is emptiness, everywhere the word 'cancelled' appears, and in my à-part terminal, one of the two egglike structures of terminal 2A, only 7 people present - if you count the 2 cleaning ladies.
An hour later more people showed up, and after a full passenger search on each one of us, we were able to board and escape before the fun icelandic cloud of volcano ash managed to break down the flight space over half of Europe. Due to the detour route we flew over the Atlantic to pass over to New York, we were one of only a few planes to head for the US yesterday.

I am Cedric, discoverer of things that would go unnoticed in the streets of Paris, historic haven of fashionistas and city of lights ('lights' as in 'enlightenment', not street lights).
But seriously: I'm an expat from Luxembourg (the country, not the garden), living in the center of Paris (hence 'Paris 2nd arrondissement'), and currenlty studying architectural history...
