"Infotainment? What the hell are you talking about?"

Aye thoust can!

Apparently George Washington joined the ever growing Obama clan! This advertisement for the Le Monde newspaper is plastered all over Paris newsstands this week.

Hilarious! Gotta love that French way of shaking U.S. Up (and your astute way of reporting it.)

    Thanks Cedric! This is funny!

Oh, the irony. Do you think they mean to reference a Virginian for this?

I always think it's lovely to see clever references to the history of the United States. so often we are characterised as having no culture or simply with an evil morals stealing pop culture. We have an exceptional history darnit! Thank you for giving us a little alice in wonderland type window into your world, the mad hatter (or the doremouse) would be proud!

Just so you all know the context of the message this poster was delivering: this is an advert for the Parsian newspaper "Le Monde." Le Monde was offering a 24 peice encyclopedia to new subscribers, so the images of Washington and the Obama hat are used as examples of the encyclopedia's inclusions. There was also a poster donning Albert Einstein with an AIDS ribbon afixed to his sweater. These and more are cleaver ways for Le Monde to grab pedestrian attention during rush hour (and trust me, it works.)

I am Cedric, discoverer of things that would go unnoticed in the streets of Paris, historic haven of fashionistas and city of lights ('lights' as in 'enlightenment', not street lights).
But seriously: I'm an expat from Luxembourg (the country, not the garden), living in the center of Paris (hence 'Paris 2nd arrondissement'), and currenlty studying architectural history...
