Cakes: American cakes are as good as thrice the size of a regular European one. It's the mother of all cakes. Those are the cakes you can hire for your bachelor's party and a bunch of girls can hide inside to jump out, and yet there still is enough space to park an SUV in there. For the bigger models of cakes, you might also need a drivers licence to carry them around, as they are heavy enough to be rolled through the streets, just like drums...

It's nearly impossible to purchase smaller pans, too. So if one wished to make a smaller cake...I guess a trip to Paris would be in order.
And sadly, most of the industrial ones have very little flavor, just sugary sweet cardboard. And, I've never had a macaron.
Not true! I've seen much smaller baking pans in New York stores. But if you're looking for any old excuse just to go to Paris, well there you have it.
